The Settlers of Catan is a popular board game first published in Germany in 1995. Three or four players can play Settlers Catan game in about one and a half hours(a little longer if it's the first time). The Settlers of Catan board game has various expansions which allow 5 or 6 player games. The game board represents a colony island of Catan in the middle ages and players need to establish settlements, roads and cities by way of collecting resources during each play turn. The game includes hexagonal tiles which create the game board, resource and development cards, tokens for the cities and roads and dice. The goal of the game is to gain 10 victory points by way of achievements like building more cities and roads than your opponents.Settlers of Catan board game
Settlers Catan has been relatively unkown in the USA until recently more Catan Review sites and media articles have promoted the board game.

The current fourth edition of Settlers Catan game has interlocking Seaframe pieces which form the frame to hold the hex terrain tiles together. The previous editions hex tiles were able to move out of place if players were not careful to not disturb them. The fourth edition of Settlers Catan Game has upgraded colorful graphics on the terrain hex tiles, resource cards and building cost cards.
I'm finding the Settlers of Catan to be the best board game ever,
unlike Monopoly, everyone gets to participate in each players turn by collecting resources and trading with the player whose turn it is.
After playing several times, it's possible to devise a winning strategy to follow and it's easy to deviate from that if circumstances dictate changing conditions by an opponent gaining the lead in victory points.
I first discovered the Settlers Catan game in a recent Wired magazine article and thought it sounded too good to be true. I played with my 11 and 14 year old kids and they loved it as did several neighbors. The only drawback is that 2 players can't play, my daughter insisted on playing Settlers Catan game with me and the game wasn't as good as with 3 or 4 players.
Settlers of Catan is currently my favorite board game and I'm frequently looking for people to get together and play Settlers of Catan Board Game with.
In Germany board games have always been more popular than in the USA and the Settlers of Catan game has been honored with many top game awards and most communities have organized meet ups for game play and tournaments. Settlers Catan Game is known as Siedler Catan in Germany.
